During the course of the last year or so we've heard about people using food stamps to buy luxury foods and other unnecessary items but this takes the cake!

I think most of us were shocked by stories of people buying lottery tickets, adult entertainment and even visiting casinos with EBT cards. Now it's come to light that a lingerie store in Gonzales has posted a sign on it's front door that it will accept EBT cards. A lingerie shop!

State laws have been changed to prohibit the purchase of alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets, adult entertainment and casino outings but the law doesn't mention lingerie! What the heck? Do we have to have a law explaining everything you can and cannot do in life?

I'm sure someone will note that edible underwear could be considered food.

More than 800,000 people in Louisiana receive food benefits but 10,000 of them get cash benefits and there's no law that says they can't spend the money on whatever their little hearts desire.

I certainly hope someone in the State Legislature will wake up and nip this abuse before it gets way out of hand.

I'm sure someone will note that edible underwear could be considered food.

Just think of all the other abuses that happen with EBT cards as people sell or rent the cards out for cash. That cash can then be used (legally) for all of the illegal items I mentioned before.

Call your legislator today to put an end to this flagrant abuse of taxpayer money.

The switchboard number to call is 1-225-342-6945.
