Youngsville Man Accused Of Trying To Kidnap Abbeville Woman At Knifepoint

ABBEVILLE, La. (KPEL) -- Police in Abbeville have arrested a Youngsville man after he allegedly tried to kidnap a woman at knifepoint.

Police say the suspect held up the victim, forced her into her car, and told her to drive away. She fought back, though, and was able to yell for help.

The suspect ran away with her purse when he realized people were coming to help, but the victim was able to give a description of him and the car he was in.

A short time later, Vermilion Parish deputies in nearby Erath pulled over a car matching the description the victim gave, and inside the car, they found her purse. Inside the purse was her identification.

Thirty-eight-year-old Chester Montgomery was booked into jail on charges of attempted aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery.
