Youngsville Mayor Wilson Viator says for safety reasons they decided to cancel the Mardi Gras parade.

Viator says he met with the Mayor Pro Tem, the Town Manager and the Chief of Police who discussed the possible safety concerns associated with the severe weather forecast for Saturday, and they decided to cancel the parade for this year.

Viator says starting yesterday, several of the bands scheduled to participate in this year's parade started calling city hall to cancel, so that was another reason town officials that it best to postpone the parade this year.  Viator says everyone will just have to look forward to next year:
