It won't be very long now until the grand opening of the new multimillion-dollar Youngsville Sports Complex.

The new park will feature a variety of fields including baseball and soccer along with tennis courts, a playground and concession stands.

Younsville Mayor Wilson Viator says the grand opening of the park is slated for January.

Viator says both the baseball and soccer fields have been seeded, and the first games will start next year.

The Youngsville Sports Complex was an idea many in the town wanted, and voters approved a sales tax that will sport part of the building and operations of the park.

The city started collecting the one penny sales tax in May of this year, and officials say the tax will likely raise close to $1.9 million for the project.
