ZACHARY, La. (AP) — A 48-year-old Zachary man will be sentenced June 22 after being convicted of second-degree murder in the 2010 stabbing death of another man on the side of U.S. Highway 61 in Zachary.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/KSKYq1) that an East Baton Rouge Parish jury convicted William "Cookie" Wallace on Friday in the death of Robert "Robby" Jenkins, 22, on Dec. 24, 2010.

Prosecutors say Wallace admitted stabbing Jenkins during an argument while Wallace was helping Jenkins work on his car on the side of the highway. They say the murder weapon was a 15-inch knife.

A second-degree murder conviction carries an automatic sentence of life in prison.
