ZACHARY, La. (AP) — The superintendent of the Zachary Community School District is resigning to take a new job with the Louisiana Department of Education.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/MBHO93 ) Warren Drake told principals and school board members Monday that he is stepping down Sept. 4 to serve as a "network leader" for the department.

Drake became the school district's first paid superintendent when he took the job a decade ago.

School Board President Jannie Rogers said the search for Drake's successor will be discussed by the board at an upcoming retreat.
