    Battle For The Paddle Shrimp Cookoff, Delcambre

    The 3rd Annual Battle for the Paddle Shrimp Cookoff is happening at the Shrimp Festival Grounds in Delcambre. $5 get you in the gate; food served at noon. Kip Sonnier will be performing, as well as Dustin Sonnier and Jaryd Lane.

    Bring your appetite, your dancing shoes, and a good attitude, and leave your ice chests and pets at home' (Really, leave them home, as they will be embarrassed. Have you seen the size of a Delcambre ice chest?)

    Fishing For Memories IX, A Benefit Rodeo For Alzheimer’s

    June 1 - 4

    Fishing for Memories IX, a benefit rodeo for the Alzheimer’s Association, will be fun for the amateur or experienced fishermen and their families.  It all happens in Intracoastal City, Louisiana June 1 – 4.  Abbeville Harbor and Terminal Public Boat Launch will be the place to be for great food, live entertainment, and fun.

    Entertainment includes Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin' Cajuns.

    Louisiana Smoked Meat Festival, Ville Platte

    June 2 - 3

    The Louisiana Smoked Meats Fest will take place June 2 - 3 at the Ville Platte Civic Center.

    On Friday, June 2nd, live music by Wicked Waters and Hit n Run.

    On Saturday, One Trick Pony plays at 7pm, and the night wraps up with Aaron Tippin.

    There will also be a championship smoked meats cook-off, a ceremony to honor veterans, a washer board tourney, two-step dance contest and lots more!

    St. Jude Dream Home Open House, Broussard

    Through June 18

    The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Dream Home will be open for tours every weekend through June 18.

    The home was built as a raffle home, with all proceeds benefiting the hospital. Tickets are $100, and can be purchased online.

    On Saturdays the house will be open from 9 am – 5 pm and Sundays from noon – 5 pm.

    Your tour of the home could garner you a win in an auxiliary drawing worth $5,000!

    The Dream Home will be given away on Sunday, June 25, 2016 on a live broadcast on KATC TV-3.

    Talk Saves Lives: Intro To Suicide Prevention, St. Martinville

    June 3rd

    A community-based presentation that covers the general scope of suicide, the research on prevention, and what people can do to fight suicide.

    Attendees will learn the risk and warning signs of suicide, and how together, we can help prevent it.

    Hosted by Acadiana Out of the Darkness, the event will be held at the St. Martinville Public Library.

    Acadiana Field Day, Lafayette

    PRICE: $300 to participate, $10 to enjoy

    June 3

    Moncus Park at the Horse Farm is the location for Acadiana Field Day.

    This brand new fundraiser will include kickball, trivia, the "Ultimate Relay", word puzzle and tug-o-war.

    Teams of 6 compete for a great gift pack, which includes passes to local attractions and gift certificates to be redeemed at several area establishments.

    Hosted by AAF Acadiana, an official chapter of the American Advertising Federation, part of a nationwide network of movers, shakers and industry guardians.

    Proceeds from the event will support educational opportunities for AAF Acadiana members and students in Acadiana.
