A recommendation to put a property tax on the ballot this fall to help pay for Lafayette Parish public school improvements has been put on hold. It happened after the civic group, One Hundred Black Men of Greater Lafayette, told the school board they should first address lower academic levels and graduation rates. Superintendent Burnell Lemoine says that's something the school system has been doing, and he plans on bringing proof to the next school board meeting.
