2 Lafayette Residents Die In Jefferson Davis Parish Crash

53-year-old Ushaben Patel and her front seat passenger, 64-year-old Dhanubed Patel - both of Lafayette - are now dead after their van crashed with another van, driven by 42-year-old James Felix of Carencro.

The fatal incident happened at the intersection of US Highway 190 and Louisiana Highway 26 about two miles east of Elton around 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. La. State Police say Patel ran a stop sign and her van was struck on the passenger side. Two other passengers in their vehicle suffered minor to moderate injuries. Felix also suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation as routine toxicology samples of the drivers are being analyzed by State Police.
