The product in question is made by Palmer Candy Company. They make a variety of white-coated confectionary items that they are now voluntarily recalling due to potential contamination with Salmonella.

What are the Symptoms of Salmonella Poisoning?

Salmonella infections typically manifest with symptoms like:

  • fever
  • diarrhea
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • Abdominal pain.

The recalled items were distributed nationwide, including in major retail stores such as Walmart, HyVee, Target, Dollar General, and through various distributors across several states including Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, and more.

These products are available in various retail packaging containers such as bags, pouches, and tubs. the good news is that no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.

How Was The Problem Discovered?

According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after Palmer Candy was notified by its liquid coating supplier of potential Salmonella contamination from an ingredient sourced from one of their suppliers. As a precautionary measure, production of the affected items has been suspended while the FDA and the company investigate the situation to determine the source of the problem.
