BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana alcoholic beverage control agents issued 825 citations during the just-concluded Mardi Gras season.

That's according to the Louisiana Office and Alcohol and Tobacco Control.

Agency commissioner Troy Hebert says most of the citations involved underage drinking.

The agency's region that includes the heart of the Mardi Gras celebrations issued 655 of the citations, including 393 in the French Quarter and 262 along parade routes.

In one case, agents confiscated 97 kegs of beer — or about 1,500 gallons — from a fraternity party where underage drinkers were present.

ATC says it's the biggest crackdown in over 10 years. Most of the cost was covered by a federal grant.
