Louisiana high temperatures have been hovering in the upper-80s to low-90s for a couple of weeks now, and the summer-like weather has folks itching to head east to the beach. People in the Lafayette area could certainly use a vacation break after the storms last week that wreaked havoc on St. Martin Parish, in Lafayette, and St. Landry Parish.

The good news is that, if you are headed to Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, or Destin for the Memorial Day weekend, the weather will cooperate with you plans for some sand and sea.

Lafayette and most of Louisiana will be dealing with more heat and humidity the week of Memorial Day, with highs flirting with the 90 degree mark. The humidity and lack of a breeze is stifling! It feels like you've walked into a steam bath when you step out the door.

What is the Beach Forecast for Gulf Shores, Pensacola, and Destin This Weekend?

The temperatures across the Alabama Gulf Coast and in the most eastern part of the Florida panhandle will sit in the mid-80s each day. When you wake up to enjoy your coffee on the patio or balcony, expect the temperature to be a balmy 71 to 74 degrees.

The rain chances go up slightly in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach on Tuesday, with only isolated showers predicted for Pensacola Beach and Destin. As we seasoned beach-goers know, rain seems to scoot around the beach, so you may get lucky. Sunshine should be abundant every day, so remember to wear sunscreen.

The National Weather Service notes that the risk of rip currents will be low, but be careful in case they decide to become stronger on any given day.

If you haven't been to the beach in a while, remember to pay attention to the flags that are hoisted on the beach each day. The colors indicate the conditions in the water. The National Weather Service provides a reminder:

Oh! Don't forget to stop at Buc-cee's at Exit 49 in Alabama!

What is the Beach Forecast for Louisiana Beaches This Weekend?

You may decide you want to stay closer to home and enjoy a day trip to a Louisiana beach. You're in luck! Weather along coastal Louisiana will feel much better than it does further inland.

Temperatures in Holly Beach aren't expected to get above the low-80s. With the sea breeze, it will feel downright nice!

The Louisiana Department of Health hasn't issued any advisories for the water, so feel free to take a dip if you do need to cool off.

Have fun. Stay safe. Wear sunscreen. Happy Summer!
