-Wall Street ends mixed, but blue chips stocks drop again.

 
-The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 62 points to 12,240.
 
-Investors were focused on efforts in the House of Representatives to push a Republican plan for spending cuts and the debt ceiling to a vote.
 
-The issue has become so contentious this year because the U.S. budget deficit has blown out to $1.4 trillion, and may cause the government to lose its coveted triple-A credit rating.
 
-Some of the largest oil and gas producers in the Gulf of Mexico begin shutting down production as a precaution against oncoming Tropical Storm Don, which is gaining force in the western part of the Gulf.
 
-Crude-oil settled at $97.44/ barrel.
 
Gold closed at $1,613/ounce.
