Don Briggs, the president of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association tells KPEL news the new target date for oil companies to go back to work and drill deep in the gulf has been pushed back to the first quarter next year.  "I'm not even sure if that will happen or if contracts will be honored," Briggs adds.

Briggs who has been the leading voice of Acadiana's oil and gas industry claims President Obama's control of the industry is expected to get worse. He also warns what's happening in the gulf will likely happen on land.

Adding to serious economic concerns for Acadiana and the state, Briggs says is a request filed in Washington which would replace more state environmental control with federal government control.  Part of that includes the state's hydrolic waste exemption from E.P.A laws.
