Acadiana Man Arrested For Stealing St. Jude Money
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested the man they stay stole a jar full of money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says last month, a worker at Lucky's Casino noticed that a jar they used to collect money for St. Jude was gone from the counter.
When the company checked the surveillance video, they say a man pick up the jar, put it under his shirt and leave the building.
Sheriff Guidroz says that's when St. Landry Crime Stoppers got the case, and anonymous tipster via the P3 app was able to name Kurt Thomas as the suspect.
Detectives worked the case, and they arrested Thomas.
The tipster being able to use the P3 app helped our detectives identify the suspect and put him behind bars. Crime Stoppers is using a new campaign entitled 'Say it Here' to reassure the public to tip crime stoppers if they have any information on a crime. This is proof when citizens decide to get involved and work with law enforcement, results happen. Anyone with any crime information can always call St. Landry Crime Stoppers at 948-TIPS(8477) or download the free P3 app on your mobile device to tip anonymously.
Sheriff Guidroz adds that many people called in tips about this case, and he hopes people will continue to help detectives crack cases.
