An Alabama mayor reportedly wants the Confederate-related monuments that were taken down in New Orleans.

Hanceville Mayor Kenneth Nail wrote a letter to New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu asking him to donate the monuments to the Veterans Memorial Park in Hanceville.

Mayor Nail reports that the citizens of the town that he represents have supported his request, but he does not want Hanceville to have to pay for the monuments.

According to a spokesperson for Mayor Landrieu, the city did receive the letter from the mayor in Alabama and they plan to respond to his request really soon.

I did read a few weeks ago that the monuments that were taken down in the city could end up in a New Orleans museum. Now with this pending request we will have to wait and see what the mayor elects to do with the monuments he had taken down.
