On Thursday, July 23, 2020, it marked five years since a shooting at a Lafayette theater left two women dead and several others injured.

Most of us remember that day very vividly. A gunman opened fire a few minutes into a showing of Amy Schumer's film "Trainwreck" at Lafayette's Grand 16 Theatre.

The two women who died, Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson, have been held tightly in the hearts of all of us in Acadiana since their deaths.

It's also certain that Amy Schumer has not forgotten about the tragedy. She took to Instagram yesterday to post a bit of a tribute to Breaux and Johnson.

She wrote: "5 years ago today Mayci Breaux and Jillian Johnson were murdered while sitting in a movie theater in Lafayette Louisiana watching a movie I made. Strong kind smart women with huge futures ahead of them. Thinking of you today ladies and honoring you the best I can."

Thank you Amy for never forgetting about these two sweet angels.
