This morning as my wife and I were discussing the family Easter weekend plans, I realized both our paydays fell on Saturday, April 15th. Normally, that means we would be paid on Friday but obviously Friday is Good Friday. Will banks be open in Louisiana on Good Friday? What about mail and Post Offices? Here's what I found out.

Good Friday is not considered a Federal Holiday. However, thirteen states recognize Good Friday as an official Sate holiday. Louisiana is one of the thirteen. It's not recognized as a Federal holiday per-say, because of the whole separation of church and State thing.

The States that recognize Good Friday as a holiday are Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas.

The stock market will close on Good Friday, however, meaning both Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange will not be trading.

The Federal Reserve Bank will remain open.

Will your bank be open? The answer unfortunately will vary from bank to bank, so check with yours. Some banks will also observe the Monday after Easter as a holiday as well, so you'll want to look into that.

What about mail? According theholidayschedule.com, Post Offices will remain open in Louisiana for Good Friday and you will receive mail as usual.

So, to answer the questions simply, your bank might be open, and you will definitely receive mail.

Happy Easter!
