Arrest In Accident That Killed Hammon Bicyclist

HAMMOND, La. (AP) — State police say a man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist earlier this month.

A state police news release Thursday identified the suspect as 51-year-old Michael Murtagh of Hammond.

Murtagh was booked with negligent homicide and hit-and-run driving.

The accident is believed to have happened late on the night of Nov. 10 on Louisiana Highway 445. The victim was 58-year-old Bruce D. Burge of Hammond.
