Ascension Parish Child Killed In Cart Accident

PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (AP) — Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Lt. Bobby Webre says a 3-year-old boy was killed in Prairieville after a ranch cart he was riding in rolled over and pinned him underneath.

Webre said in a news release received by The Advocate (http://bit.ly/W5B0lw ) Remington Roussel died in St. Elizabeth Hospital's emergency room shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday.

Roussel was riding the ranch cart with his brother and his grandmother on her daily routine to feed animals. His grandmother suffered a seizure and hit a storage shed causing the ranch cart to overturn and trapping the boy under the cart.

Webre says Roussel's death is still being investigated, but preliminary reports seem to indicate that this was an accidental death.
