The Atchafalaya National Wildlife Refuge, which has been closed since May because of flooding from the opening of the Morganza Spillway gates, is open again.

While all the refuge's land is now open, Park Ranger Jody DeMeyere warns visitors that several road within the refuge remain closed.

DeMeyere says the roads took major damage from the flooding and it is unclear when they may be open again.

She said all roads on the south end of the refuge from Interstate 10 at the Whiskey Bay exit are open.
