BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A 24-year-old Baton Rouge man has been indicted on a first-degree murder charge in the Oct. 23 beating death of his girlfriend's 1-year-old son.

If convicted as charged, Randy Demond Parker would face either life in prison or death by lethal injection.

Police say Parker, who is not the boy's father, is accused of hitting Demarcus Stokes several times in the head, throat, legs and arms on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23.

Police say Parker allegedly hit Demarcus because he would not sit still for a haircut and after the child urinated on himself during the night,

The Advocate reports the results of an autopsy on the boy showed he died of blunt-force trauma to the head.
