BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Authorities in East Baton Rouge Parish arrested a homeless man who they say set fire to a pallet of cardboard boxes at a Wal-Mart Supercenter.

The Advocate reports 46-year-old Michael Lee Hamner was booked at the parish prison on counts of simple arson and disturbing the peace

Investigators say Hamner walked into the store in the 9500 block of Cortana Place after it closed late Tuesday night and, when he was told to leave, yelled at store employees.

Hamner left the store, walked around to the side of the building and set fire to the pallet using a lighter, sheriff's deputies say.

Hamner told authorities he did not set the fire and that he lives in nearby woods.
