Bear Spotted In St. Mary Parish, Citizens Warned

Authorities in St. Mary Parish want citizens to aware of bear that was spotted near Berwick.

You may have seen the yellow "Bear Crossing" signs on Hwy 90 near Berwick and here's why they were put up years ago. Bears are known to be in the area.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office wants to remind citizens to stay away from bears and reminds those driving along Hwy. 90 to not stop in the roadway to take photos of bears.

The Sheriff's Office reminds you that it is illegal to shoot a bear if you see one. The best thing to do is call local authorities or Wildlife & Fisheries.
