Berwick Hit and Run Suspect In Custody

Berwick Police issued a request for the public's help in locating a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in a hit and run incident on Saturday evening. In that incident, an elderly woman was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

Late yesterday, as a result of public input, the suspect vehicle was located and a person of interest was taken into custody. Berwick Police have released very few details about the arrests other than saying they have a suspect in custody.

Police believe the woman was struck by a late model SUV as she attempted to cross Highway 182 about 7 PM Saturday night.

The vehicle involved did not stop and render aid and the woman was transported to a New Orleans area hospital due to the severity of her injuries. Her exact condition is not known at this time. Although, Berwick Police have plans to offer more details on the arrest and the incident later this morning.
