The Big Tuna is turning down the Big Easy.

According to the NFL.com, 70-year-old future Hall of Fame Coach Bill Parcells has told the Saints he will not come out of retirement to be the club's interim coach for the 2012 season. Parcells had been a candidate to step in for the suspended Sean Payton, who faces a full season suspension for his role in the team's bounty scandal.

Monday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell upheld the suspensions against Payton, linebackers coach Joe Vitt, General Manager Mickey Loomis and the Saints organization.

Saints spokesman Greg Bensel declined Tuesday to confirm Parcells has been ruled out as a possible Payton replacement, saying the team "has nothing to report" concerning the search for an interim coach.

Parcells' agent Jimmy Sexton declined to comment.

ESPN's Chris Mortenson says there are "growing indications" that the Saints will turn to linebackers coach Joe Vitt despite his upcoming six-game suspension for his role in bounty gate.
