Have you tried Blue Bell Ice Cream's contribution to Mardi Gras? It's Mardi Gras King Cake Ice Cream it's available for a limited time and only at Louisiana locations. Sorry Mobile Alabama, not for you. Sorry Biloxi Mississippi and Galveston Texas, not for you either.

Blue Bell doesn't even have the Mardi Gras King Cake flavor listed on its website as a flavor that's available. That's because the "Little Creamery in Brenham Texas" knows that Mardi Gras King Cake ice cream belongs to Louisiana.

A random check of stores in Acadiana did indicate that the flavor was available and in stock at more than a few locations. However, one store manager I visited with via phone suggested that customers call ahead to make sure the product was in the store before they made a special trip to purchase it.

Needless to say, social media went BOOM! When this frozen elixir was unleashed.

Personally, I have tried it and it's okay. It's Blue Bell so you know the ice cream is good but the mix just isn't my favorite Blue Bell product. I am not saying it's bad. I am just saying that Pecan Pralines and Cream would be my preference over Mardi Gras King Cake.

The cream features a decided cinnamon flavor that is interspersed with pieces of cake. There's also vanilla flavored icing and sprinkles mixed in as well. So there is a lot to like and even more to love, especially if you love King Cake.

Officials with Blue Bell say that in addition to the limited distribution area there will also be a limited run for the carnival-themed cream so if you like it you better get it while you can still get it. Just think, you could have actually stored your extra ice cream outside over the past few days and it wouldn't have melted.
