Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has notified their members by letter that they will no longing be providing their RxBlue prescription drug plans for 2014.

Some 13,000 seniors who have prescription drug coverage through Blue Cross and Blue Shield will no longer be offered the Medicare Part D coverage.

The enrollment period to find new Medicare Part D coverage begins today and will run through February 28.

There has been no reason given as to why the company is dropping the plans.

Blue Cross spokesman John Maginnis said this week they don't have the resources needed for the program and the others expected to join in the new marketplace created by Obamacare.
