EUNICE, La. (AP) — Authorities have identified the body of a man who was found over a week ago and have ruled his death a homicide.

Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot says 22-year-old Akeem Caesar, of Eunice, was shot to death in a wooded area off Louisiana Highway 13.

Caesar's body was found by a group of rabbit hunters, who were running their dogs to scout for game, Feb. 1.

Caesar had been missing since Dec. 24.

Police received results of DNA tests that positively identify Caesar as the victim.

The chief is asking anyone who had seen Caesar before or after Christmas Eve or has any other information to call the police at 337-457-2626.
