On NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL's 'Brand Buzz' this week Jaci Russo discussed the on-line retailer Zappo's and how they've created a great work environment.

According to Russo,

They built the company not on huge advertising budgets, not on having the cheapest prices, matter of fact they're more expensive but they've built on customer service and on treating their employees and their company culture with the same value they treat their customers and the products they sell.

We asked how Zappo's had gone about this task and Russo said,

I think it starts with putting the right people on the bus. Their HR policy is all about hiring those that have the right mindset...and then train them.

Hiring the right people and training them as Zappo's does produces employees who according to Russo,

Don't look at work as a job. They don't look at people they have to serve as annoyances. There's no eye-rolling, no sighing. I guarantee you no one at Zappo's ever puts a customer on hold and complains to the co-worker next to them about the call they're on.
