An employee of a chemical company ended up with some second and third degree burns after chemicals he was mixing caught fire.

The burns are on the man's face and arms.

The fire was put out quickly, and State Police Haz-Mat investigators will conduct an investigation.

Lafayette Fire Haz-Mat officials are also on scene.

A listener from one of our Townsquare Media stations says that their business, which is on the same road, was shocked by the feel from the impact.

The Lafayette Communications website is reporting that there was an explosion reported in the 100 block of Kol Dr.

We spoke to Fire Chief Bryan Champagne as to the nature of the situation and, he says a full investigating is already underway.
