The Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team played its second game of a back-to-back on Wednesday as they traveled to McNeese State to take on the Cowboys.

Louisiana was looking for some consistency on the offensive end as we knew it was going to be a bullpen dominated game by both teams. Blake Schultz got the start for UL.

It was a quick start for the Cajuns as they were able to put up a pair of runs over the first two innings with a Handsome Monica sac-fly and a Jonathan Windham RBI single.

In the third inning is when UL got the "big hit" that they had been searching for when right fielder Orynn Veillon blasted a three-run home run to right. That gave the Cajuns a 5-0 lead.

However, in the bottom of the inning, McNeese got a run back when center fielder Shane Selman doubled roped a double that scored shortstop Reid Bourque. 5-1 Louisiana.

As we got into the fifth inning Orynn Veillon was able to do some more damage as he blasted a hard hit single to left to scored Handsome Monica and the Cajuns took a 6-1 lead.

Speaking of three-run homers, Handsome Monica said let me join the fun as he jolted a three-run blast of his own in the sixth as the Cajuns plated five runs and broke the game open 11-1.

This was supposed to be a bullpen game for Louisiana but Coach Robe decided to roll with Blake Schultz for five innings. He allowed just two hits, one run. three walks, three strikeouts, and threw 72 pitches.

With Schultz giving the Cajuns more than they thought they'd need they were set up well heading into the pen. However, the bullpen reverted back to its ways from the Sam Houston State weekend as they used five pitchers to record three outs in the bottom of the sixth. First, it was Connor Cooke who could record an out, gave up four runs on three hits and walked one. Next, Grant Cox allowed one run on one walk, Chance Stone was able to record one out but he surrendered three runs on one hit and three walks. Logan Savoy was next and he faced one batter and walked him. Finally, Caleb Armstrong entered the fray and put out the fire for the inning. The damage had been done as the Cowboys scratched out eight runs to make it an 11-9 game in favor of the Cajuns.

Louisiana was able to get one back in the seventh when Jonathan Windham singled, stole second, advanced on a wild pitch and then scored on a wild pitch. 12-9 UL.

Michael Leaumont had to come in relief of Caleb Armstrong in the eighth and was able to get out of the fire with McNeese scoring only one run to make it a 12-10 ballgame.

In the ninth, it was Brennan Breaux who put the game out of reach with another three-run bomb by Louisiana as they scored four runs and won the game 16-10.

With the win, UL improves to 5-7 and increases their winning streak to four.

Up next the Cajuns will play host to Loyola Marymount for a weekend series. Game one will take place on Friday at 6:30.
