Ragin' Cajun Softball capped off their weekend series against Troy with an explosive 12-2 win, mercy rule style. It happened in a hurry.

In the bottom of the first, Troy's starting pitcher, Sara Mock, only lasted four batters. After getting their first run for free on three walks and a single, the Cajuns then started lighting up replacement pitcher Ashley Rainey for a seven run inning to start the game. Three different Trojan pitchers got their chance at stopping Louisiana's hot bats. None of them found the proper coolant.

Their twelves runs came off ten hits, and several Cajuns got in on the action. Hayley Hayden, DJ Sanders and Kelli Martinez all collected two hits, two runs and two RBI's a piece. Seven different players wearing vermilion and white registered a base knock, along with five walks drawn. Martinez's two-RBI triple was the crowing offensive jewel at the bottom of the lineup, paired along with the standing double by Hayden at the top of the order. To make matters worse for Troy, Christina Hamilton had a large lead to work with from the first inning on.

Hamilton followed Saturday night's eight strikeout complete game by only allowing two runs, both off solo home runs (Ashley Rainey in the fourth inning, Amanda Winters in the fifth), and three hits total. After her teammates provided seven runs in the first inning, they followed it up with two in the third and three in the fourth to seal the deal.

With the win, Louisiana improves to 25-4 and 10-2 in Sun Belt Conference play. Hamilton picked up her 19th consecutive win in conference play and Hayley Hayden increases her on-base streak to 18 games. The sun was shining all throughout the game, and 1,445 came out to Lamson Park to soak it all in.

The Cajuns will head out on the road for a series in San Marcos, sitting in control of the conference.
