Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun men’s basketball team is back in action on Thursday evening, when coach Bob Marlin’s squad travels to Mobile, Alabama to tangle with the South Alabama Jaguars in a key Sun Belt Conference tilt.

Tip-off time is scheduled for 7:05 pm, and you can hear all the play-by-play action on ESPN 1420 and espn1420.com, along with Hot 107.9 and 1079ishot.com, beginning with the pregame show at 6:35 pm.

The game will mark the middle game of a three-game road trip for Louisiana, and will be the back-end of a women’s/men’s split doubleheader, with the UL women taking on Georgia St. at 11 am.

Louisiana, who is coming off of a 75-64 road loss to Georgia St. on Saturday night,  is 11-9, overall, on the season, and 5-4 in league play, while South Alabama, who fell to the New Jersey Institute of Technology, 72-55, on Sunday, is currently 6-14, overall, and 4-5 in Sun Belt Conference play.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 80.3/71.1, while out-shooting foes from the floor, 47.1%/42.6%, and holding down a 40.43/34.0 rebounding edge.

UL is paced by junior forward Shawn Long, who leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, at 17.1 ppg, and 9.9 rpg, respectively, and senior forward Brian Williams, who is averaging 12.0 points, to go along with 4.2 rebounds a contest.

Louisiana is 2-6 on the road this season, including a 2-2 conference mark away from home.

The Jaguars are being out-scored by the opposition, 73.2/69.2, out-shot by foes from the field, 44.5%/42.0%, and out-rebounded, 36.7/35.6.

South Alabama is paced by sophomore guard Ken Williams, who is averaging 13.8 points and 3.0 rebounds-per-game, along with freshman guard Taishaun Johnson, who is averaging 12.7 points, along with 3.8 rebounds a contest.

South Alabama won the first match-up, 89-82, back on January 17, in Lafayette.
