Calcasieu Parish Crash Ends With Serious Injury

Around six in the morning yesterday, two vehicles crashed on highway 171 in Northern Calcasieu Parish. The crash involved a concrete truck and a car.

The truck was driven by Stanley Porche who went into the oncoming lane in the path of a car driven by Joe Kendall Powell Jr.

Powell was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. It is unclear if the drivers were impaired, but police toxicology samples have been submitted for testing.

Porche, who wasn't injured, was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign.
