A new bill that could ban the use of handheld cell phones while driving has made it past the House transportation committee and is making it's way to the Senate transportation committee.

The bill states that it wouldn't just ban using the cell phone for calling, but also bans text messaging and other types of messaging while using the phone in hand.

This isn't the first time this sort of bill has tried to make it's way though the legislature. But author of the bill; Austin Badon will get a fair and clear hearing according to Senator Robert Adley, who is the head of the Senate transportation committee.

The bill is set to be voted on today.

Although the bill has been beaten every time before in this same committee, the hearing will still occur today.
