Cheryl Landrieu Named Court Clerk

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Mayor Mitch Landrieu's wife, Cheryl, has been appointed clerk of the state's 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

WWL-TV reports the Gretna-based appeals court judges appointed her in September, but had not announced the decision publicly.

Her annual salary will be almost $126,000. The amount is set by the state Supreme Court and is the same salary retiring clerk Peter Fitzgerald Jr. earned after 26 years as clerk of the court.

Cheryl Landrieu, who is an attorney, has served as a research clerk for Judge Walter Rothschild of the 5th Circuit since 2001.

She takes the new post in January.
