THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — The city of Thibodaux extended the deadline for property-tax payments because the tax notices went out late.

The Daily Comet reports taxes normally become delinquent after Dec. 31, but payments can now be made interest-free until Jan. 31.

Taxes that remain unpaid after Feb. 1 will accrue an additional 10 percent collection cost, besides interest fees.
