College Student Fakes Own Kidnapping To Hide Failing Grade
Nobody likes sharing bad report cards with parents, but one college student in Atlanta gets high marks for creativity by faking his own kidnapping to hide a failing grade.
According to officials, 19-year-old Aftab Aslam texted his parents about a kidnapping, then went camping for a week in an undeveloped area in Forsyth County.
Aslam apparently concocted the story because he received a second F in English at Georgia Gwinnett College and didn't want to tell his parents because he was ashamed.
So why couldn't Aslam pull it off? Well, when the weather turned nasty at his campsite, he packed up his things and went home. After that, he buckled under cross-examination and admitted the whole thing to police. Clearly, he didn't think this all the way through.
The teen is charged with making a false report, false statements, tampering with evidence and terrorist threats. As of last Friday, he was being held without bail.
