Convicted Former New Orleans Mayor To Be Sentenced
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (NAY'-gin) is scheduled to be sentenced today on bribery, money laundering and other charges.
Prosecutors are pressing for a stiff sentence.
Nagin was convicted in February of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from businessmen who wanted work from the city or Nagin's support for projects — both before and after Hurricane Katrina.
