If you want a taste of the traditional, old time, historic, Mardi Gras that is celebrated here in Acadiana, then makes plans to attend the Courir de Mardi Gras and Bal du Dimanche at Vermilionville on Sunday, February 1! The Grammy nominated Pine Leaf Boys will provide the musical entertainment, and the event will be held from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm, with the traditional chicken run to begin at 11:30 a.m.  Once again, the Basile Mardi Gras Association will beg for all the ingredients for the community gumbo, and perform some of our beloved traditions along the way. Admission for the Courir de Mardi Gras is $5; children under 3 get in free.With admission, patrons can also view the beautiful and elaborate 'city' Mardi Gras costumes and the fun and festive 'country' Mardi Gras outfits that are part of Vermilionville’s 'A Tale of Two Mardi Gras' exhibit.
