A former Covington, Louisiana area teacher was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly biting one of her students.

Heather Marcotte, 28, was arrested on Wednesday for felony cruelty to a juvenile.

On October 25, the parent of a 2-year-old student at Northlake Christian School called the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office to report an incident that occurred at the school.

The mother told deputies that when she picked up her son at school the day before, she noticed what appeared to be a bite mark on her son's right cheek.

An administrator at the school informed the mother that the boy's teacher reported that she left the mark on the child. Marcotte said her mouth accidentally hit his face.

The case was turned over to detectives with the STPSO Juvenile Crimes Division for investigation. During that investigation is when Marcotte admitted to biting the child after she became frustrated with him.

A warrant was obtained for her arrested and she was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
