NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A 42-year-old Covington woman accused of stealing almost $190,000 over a three-year period from a dentist's office where she worked has been charged with embezzling health care funds.

The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/12pnfns ) Kelly Muller was charged Thursday in a one-count bill of information.

Federal prosecutors say Muller worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at a Metairie dentist's office, where she used her position to allegedly steal approximately health care benefit plan.

According to the bill of information, Muller would add unauthorized money to her paycheck.

Embezzling health care funds carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine upon conviction.

It was unclear whether Muller has an attorney.
