Cruising Out of Texas? You Can’t Watch This On Board
The concept of cruise ship vacations is quite popular in Texas. It was just announced that our state's cruise port, the Port of Galveston has served a record number of passengers in recent months. That number looks to grow higher and higher as cruise lines step up their game to offer even more and more onboard fun.
As a veteran of several cruises sailing out of various ports such as New Orleans, Galveston, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Southampton, Copenhagen, Venice, and Barcelona just to name a few there is one thing every cruise guest does as soon as they get on board that they probably shouldn't.
It's actually the same thing most of us do first when we check into a hotel. Okay, after using the restroom we do what? If you're like the rest of us you'll turn on the television set. On a cruise ship that TV monitor doesn't come with a lot of options. There is a reason it doesn't.
Cruise lines don't want you chilling in your stateroom. They want you out and about roaming the decks, spending your money, buying drinks, playing in the casino, purchasing gold by the inch, and purchasing ugly t-shirts that you can give as gifts to the folks back home. If you had stuff to watch on TV you wouldn't be doing that.
This brings us to our latest startling revelation regarding what you can and can't watch while onboard a cruise ship. Most ships offer entertainment channels, news channels, sports channels, and movie channels. The pickings are slim, to say the least. Yes, you can get an internet package but you're limited on what you can watch via that option as well.
This brings us to November 15th. If you happen to be sailing on a Royal Caribbean vessel or a Carnival Cruise Ship no matter where you are in the world and no matter how much you want to watch you won't be able to see Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson.
The "fight" between the YouTuber and the aging world champion will be streamed on Netflix. And while cruise lines do offer streaming packages the bandwidth needed to stream a service such as Netflix is not practical.
So, not only will you miss the 20 seconds of action crammed into four hours next Friday you won't be able to watch your other Netflix binge favorites either. And to be honest, you shouldn't have your nose stuck in a screen when you're traveling the world. Go look at the world instead, you'll be amazed at how much more interesting it is compared to the made-up world of television.
Who Will Be the Winner Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson?
That question has already been answered. It will be Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions the folks who are presenting the "spectacle". They're going to make some major money on this event. At least, if you're on a cruise ship, you can save your money on this crap and use it to buy one of those crappy rum cakes they push on the passengers at every port.
