SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Shreveport police have linked the suspect killed during last week's ATM robbery to a similar robbery of an off-duty police officer in September.

Bill Goodin, assistant to Shreveport police chief, says Ledarius Morgan was shot in the early hours of Dec. 20 as he and 20-year-old Raymond Johnson robbed a man at a Regions Bank ATM. Goodin says the 22-year-old Morgan was dropped off at a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Morgan has since been identified from a police lineup as one of two men who held a Shreveport police officer at gunpoint near an ATM Sept. 16.

Goodin tells The Times the duo took an undisclosed amount of money and the officer's department-issued handgun.
