Hurricane Zeta surprised forecasters and intensified to a strong Category 2 hurricane hitting the Louisiana Gulf Coast south of New Orleans late afternoon Wednesday, October 28. Hurricane Zeta made landfall near Cocodrie, Louisiana with 110 mph winds, only one mile less than a Category 3 hurricane.

The forecast calls for Zeta to weaken quickly, becoming a tropical storm headed northeast.  The storm surge in the Grand Isle area is estimated at 7-11 feet.

Drone photography from Golden Meadow, Louisiana shows Zeta's storm surge.

The forecast for Acadiana following Hurricane Zeta calls for sunshine for at least the next 12 days. Temperatures will be in the 60s and 70s during the day, 40s and 50s at night. Halloween will be clear with a low of 50.
