TUPELO, Miss. (AP) — Elvis Presley fans and impersonators have taken over this city where the "King of Rock 'n' Roll" was born.

The 2012 Elvis Festival is in full-swing with Elvis impersonators squaring off in a singing contest at the Lyric Theatre.

The Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/JCTHYu ) that the singing competition, the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, continued Saturday.

"We go to a lot of these," said David Lee, who performed "I Can't Stop Loving You" at the contest's first round Friday. Lee is a 39-year-old Birmingham, Ala., resident. "Tupelo fans are the best. Tupelo fans love the entertainers. They love Elvis."

On Saturday, sporting events, a downtown Elvis parade, an Elvis lookalike pet parade and other events were on tap.

The festival wraps up Sunday.
