This story to me falls under the category of "what kind of jackwagon would do something like this"? Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office say they have received several complaints from motorist involving tire damage from nails left on the roadways near the city of Ville Platte.

According to reports complaints were filed by motorists who picked up nails in their tires on U.S. Highway 167, LA-10, LA-29, and LA-748. Based on observations from EPSO and the Louisiana Department of Transportation the nails appear to have been deliberately scattered on the roadway.

If it was supposed to be a joke, commenters on the Evangeline Parish Crimes Facebook page aren't really finding the humor.

Over the weekend crews were sent to these locations with magnetic sweepers to pick up as many of the nails as possible. DOTD says they will sweep the areas or new areas if more nails are discovered.

Meanwhile, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office would love your help in solving this crime. If you have information on who might be doing this they would appreciate a phone call or Facebook message.
