Church Point Family Fights To Get Pet Monkey Back [VIDEO]

A Church Point family is fighting to get their pet monkey back from the state.

Darwin, the spider monkey, is currently is state custody because owing an exotic animal in Louisiana is illegal. However, the owners of the pet monkey say that they are grandfathered in.

According to the Church Point family, they have been owning the monkey for quite some time. And they say that they have had the monkey before the state law was passed.

Louisiana passed a law banning exotic animals without a special permit in 2006.
