There have been at least a zillion studies touting the benefits of exercise. Did you know lifting weights can help battle depression? Yes, I'm about to cite another study. Depression rates  are on the rise. Even celebrities succumb to it. In recent years, we've seen the suicides of Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain, & Kate Spade. Strenuous exercise produces endorphins, which function as natural antidepressants. A study, published earlier this year, on bigthink.com, recommends lifting weights to combat depression. You don't have to be an Olympic powerlifter. Just work out several times a week with some free weights at home. You're not at the mercy of the weather, unlike jogging, which is bad for your joints. The muscle resistance will stimulate the production of endorphins. You'll feel better, physically, and emotionally.
